Going on a Holiday!

A simple packing checklist!

Packing for Our Holiday!

We've been busy preparing for our upcoming holiday! Yay! C has been really excited about travelling again, and we've been doing a countdown everyday. Now that she is 3 years old, she is able to help with simple chores, and that includes packing for our trip! To involve her in this process, I prepared a packing checklist for her. This is a great activity that gives her a sense of responsibility, as well as introduce her to using a list as a reference to physical items.

Getting her clothes ready for the luggage!

Counting the number of clothing items needed.

Learning to place them neatly in the luggage.

Checking the packing list.

Quantity can be written down in the checklist,
to reinforce counting!

Double checking the items.
Here's the simple Packing Checklist you can download. It's always wonderful for kids to be involved in holiday preparation!

Learning about the World Map

At the same time, C has always been keen to learn about the world map, and she can really relate to her travelling experiences when she looks at the map. We went through the 7 Continents of the World today, and used a few different tools to link them altogether.

7 Continents of the World

I printed out a simple world map with all 7 Continents of the World indicated with different colours. C is then asked to match the continents to their respective areas on the map.

Prepared a World Map with the 7 Continents in different colours.

Naming the 7 Continents.
Used another World Map and asked C to circle all the countries
she had visited.
You can download the 7 Continents World Map here.

National Flag Cards Activity
The next activity we did was to use National Flag Cards from Daiso. They have the national flags of countries printed on one side of each card, and their names printed on the back. We then proceeded to read the countries' names, and attach the cards to their respective positions on the World Map. Blu Tack is wonderful for sticking the cards, since they are mess-free and easy to remove at the end of the activity.
Important to learn about our own National Flag!

to introduce C to other countries!

My First World Flags Sticker Book
Another tool we used was My First World Flags Sticker Book. Kids LOVE stickers, and this is a fantastic way to teach children about countries and their national flags. I also love how the countries are listed according to their respective Continents, which further reinforces our previous activity on the 7 Continents in the World.

National Flags.

We love travelling as it provides a wonderful insight to different cultures and traditions, as well as learn about the history of different countries. Well, not forgetting the amazing foods and cuisines we get to try in different parts of the world! Looking forward to another learning adventure soon!
